> Shift At Midnight Characters: All Doppelgangers & Customer List
Every Shift At Midnight character falls into one of two categories: ordinary human customers going about their night, or doppelgangers — creatures disguised as humans who will return as monsters if they escape. This guide lists the named characters currently documented on this site with their real appearance and doppelganger form.
Quick Reference: 65 documented doppelganger-capable customers (56 plus 9 of the 15 August 20 newcomers) · 89 named human customer profiles · 5 doppelganger variants · 3 special visitors · 17 car customers with tells · Each doppelganger has a unique real appearance and monster form · The game randomly assigns who is a doppelganger each shift
September 1 update: The latest official patch added 30 customers to both Story Mode and Endless Mode. The announcement confirms the total but does not publish a name-by-name roster, so the cards below cover the named profiles currently documented rather than assigning names or forms that the patch does not provide. Read the full September 1 patch notes.

Doppelgangers
Every doppelganger in Shift At Midnight falls into one of four groups: doppelganger-capable customers — regular people who can secretly be a doppelganger on any given shift — plus other doppelganger variants, special doppelganger visitors, and car customers with their own tells. The rule is the same for all of them: learn the tells, and never trust a familiar face.
Doppelganger-Capable Customers
These customers can appear as either their real human self or a doppelganger in any given shift. Each entry shows the character's real photo alongside their doppelganger form. Compare them closely to learn the visual tells.
Nathan Calloway
First encounter: Night 1
▼ Real Appearance

▲ Doppelganger Form

Nathan Calloway appears on the very first night. He is one of the earliest customers you'll encounter, making him an important character for learning the detection mechanics. His doppelganger form takes on a twisted, demonic appearance with elongated features and glowing eyes — and if the visual is somehow not enough, running his ID in the computer reveals the real Nathan is deceased.
Julietta Granger
First encounter: Night 1
▼ Real Appearance

▲ Doppelganger Form

Julietta Granger also appears on the first night alongside Nathan Calloway. Her real appearance shows a young woman with a friendly demeanor. As a doppelganger, she transforms into a gaunt, skeletal figure — a stark visual contrast that observant players will notice. There's also a behavioral tell: the real Julietta is a plumber, while the doppelganger claims to be a flight attendant and wears the uniform.
Brandon Keller
First encounter: Night 2
▼ Real Appearance

▲ Doppelganger Form

Brandon Keller is a frequently appearing customer starting from Night 2. His real appearance shows a bearded man. As a doppelganger, Brandon's body distorts into one of the most visually striking transformations in the game. Players report that his doppelganger form tends to stand unnaturally still at the counter.
Judith Calhoun
First encounter: Nights 2-3
▼ Real Appearance

▲ Doppelganger Form

Judith Calhoun appears on Nights 2 and 3. Her real appearance shows an older woman with distinctive white hair. Her doppelganger form is a hunched, twisted creature. Judith is one of the easier doppelgangers to spot due to the dramatic physical transformation between her human and monster forms. There's a question-based tell too: the human Judith says she's just getting a few items for herself, while the doppelganger mentions her husband is at home — the N.E.T. file lists her as a widow.
Jade Sinclair
First encounter: Night 3
▼ Real Appearance

Doppelganger form

Jade Sinclair starts appearing from Night 3. She has a distinctive appearance with lighter hair. Her doppelganger looks completely different from her photo ID — the strongest visual mismatch in the game — and players also report scripted chatter and repetitive phrases. Photo first, questions second.
Tommy Delgado
First encounter: Night 3
▼ Real Appearance

▲ Doppelganger Form

Tommy Delgado appears starting from Night 3. He appears as a younger man with a baseball cap. As a doppelganger, Tommy's form distorts into a gaunt, elongated creature with sharp features. His visual transformation is one of the more subtle ones, making him a tricky character to identify. A question helps: the human Tommy doesn't mention his sister, while the doppelganger says it's grabbing stuff for her — look her up and the file shows she's deceased.
Clyde Dawson
First encounter: Night 1 (as human), Night 3 (as doppelganger)
▼ Real Appearance

▲ Doppelganger Form

Clyde Dawson is a dispatch contact or colleague who can appear as both a regular customer and as a doppelganger. While he appears as a human on Night 1, his doppelganger variant can show up as early as Night 3. Clyde's survival (or lack thereof) affects which ending you receive. Three playthroughs are typically needed to see all possible outcomes involving Clyde. Behaviorally, the human Clyde introduces himself on Night 1 and then acts like he already knows you on later shifts — the doppelganger introduces itself even after you've already met.
Kevin Larson
First encounter: Night 1
▼ Real Appearance

▲ Doppelganger Form

Kevin Larson is a recurring customer starting from Night 1. His N.E.T. file lists him in insurance sales — tall, and often in formalwear, which matches his ID photo. As a doppelganger, Kevin's form distorts into an elongated, gaunt creature with pale skin. He is one of the more commonly appearing doppelganger-capable characters across the mid-game shifts — and once the Anomaly Lens is unlocked, check him on it: the doppelganger shows up as a “groovy” version of Kevin, dancing in the lens.
Vivien Marrow
First encounter: Night 3
▼ Real Appearance

▲ Doppelganger Form

Vivien Marrow begins appearing from Night 3 onward. She appears as a woman with dark hair in her human form. As a doppelganger, her appearance shifts into a tall, skeletal figure with elongated limbs. Vivien is one of the game's newer documented doppelganger-capable characters, confirmed through community-sourced data.
Amelia Kramer
Doppelganger tell: invisible in the Anomaly Camera · presents her brother Doug's N.E.T. ID instead of her own
▼ Real Appearance

▲ Doppelganger Form

Amelia Kramer is Doug Kramer's twin sister. Her doppelganger is invisible in the Anomaly Camera and presents Doug's N.E.T. ID instead of her own — the name mismatch on the ID scan is the tell. If the card says Doug but the face is Amelia, that's a doppelganger, not a family discount.
Andal Khan
Doppelganger tell: a misspelled nametag on his chef uniform
▼ Real Appearance

▲ Doppelganger Form

Andal Khan is a chef at Baldani's Pizza who needs glasses, and his ID photo shows it. His doppelganger keeps the chef uniform but wears a misspelled nametag — read the tag, not just the face.
Anita Varma
Doppelganger tell: the right hand is cut off and bleeding
▼ Real Appearance

▲ Doppelganger Form

Anita Varma is a lawyer who comes in looking fatigued with bags under her eyes and hair dyed dark red. Her doppelganger's tell is gruesome: the right hand is cut off and bleeding. Check the hands — a doppelganger that hides its face still has to put its hands on the counter.
Barry Aoki
Doppelganger tell: the form is much bigger than the real Barry and claims to have eaten magic beans
▼ Real Appearance

▲ Doppelganger Form

Barry Aoki's doppelganger form is much bigger than the real man, and it's not subtle about it — ask why, and it claims to have eaten magic beans. A giant Barry telling fairy tales is your confirmation.
Cara Hastings
Doppelganger tell: claims she’s preparing for her 30th birthday — the real Cara is 23
▼ Real Appearance

▲ Doppelganger Form

Cara Hastings' tell is on her calendar: the real Cara is 23 years old per her date of birth in the N.E.T. file, but the doppelganger claims to be preparing for her 30th birthday. Do the math on the ID check — a seven-year lie is your confirmation.
Derrick Vaughn
Doppelganger tell: the jacket is subtly different from the human's
▼ Real Appearance

▲ Doppelganger Form

Derrick Vaughn's doppelganger is documented with a subtle clothing difference: the jacket it wears isn't quite the same as the human's. It's the kind of detail you'll only catch if you look — which is the point of looking.
Dylan Pike
Doppelganger tell: wears trousers — his N.E.T. file says he always wears shorts
▼ Real Appearance

▲ Doppelganger Form

Dylan Pike's doppelganger can't pass the wardrobe check: his N.E.T. file notes he always wears shorts, but the doppelganger shows up in trousers. Community reports point to the pants as the tell — check the legs, not the face.
Emilia Carter
Doppelganger tell: talks about studying at the library on the day the Midnight News said it was closed
▼ Real Appearance

▲ Doppelganger Form

Emilia Carter's doppelganger talks about studying at Midnight Town's library — the same library the Midnight News reported closed that day. She's guaranteed to appear as a doppelganger if the break-room news mentions the closure, so the news feed is your early warning.
Ethan Voss
Doppelganger tell: claims a busy day at his laundromat — the paper reported a power outage there
▼ Real Appearance

▲ Doppelganger Form

Ethan Voss' doppelganger says he's been busy all day at his laundromat — but the newspaper on the notice board reports a power outage in that area. A laundromat with no power is a lie you can catch before he reaches the counter.
Lisa Cannon
Doppelganger tell: calls Mia her twin — the database shows Mia is younger
▼ Real Appearance

▲ Doppelganger Form

Lisa Cannon's doppelganger refers to her sister as her twin. The file shows Mia Cannon is younger — twins are the same age. The word “twin” is the tell.
Martha Collins
Doppelganger tell: names her kids “Lee and Ken” — the file lists Leo and Ben
▼ Real Appearance

▲ Doppelganger Form

Martha Collins' doppelganger can't keep the kids straight: asked about her children, she names them “Lee and Ken” — the N.E.T. file lists Leo and Ben. Wrong names, wrong customer.
Maya Davila
Doppelganger tell: claims she just came back from a date with her husband — but her husband is missing
▼ Real Appearance

▲ Doppelganger Form

Maya Davila is a tax accountant and the widow of Walter Davila, whose face is on a Midnight News notice. Her doppelganger's tell is a story problem: it claims she just came back from a date with her husband — but her husband is missing. Anyone telling you about a date with a dead man is lying.
Net Pongsak
Doppelganger tell: levitates — and believes enlightenment is how
▼ Real Appearance

▲ Doppelganger Form

Net Pongsak's doppelganger is the floating kind: it levitates, and if you question it, it believes humans can reach the same state through enlightenment. Feet off the floor is a tell you can't miss.
Pan Yu
Doppelganger tell: the scar sits on the wrong side
▼ Real Appearance

▲ Doppelganger Form

Pan Yu is a dishwasher with callused hands who speaks in broken English. The community-documented tell on his doppelganger form is the scar — it sits on the wrong side. If the scar doesn't match the photo, the person doesn't either.
Ray Rowland
Doppelganger tell: abnormally long neck, which it denies when asked
▼ Real Appearance

▲ Doppelganger Form

Ray Rowland supervises the night shift at a warehouse and is balding, born in 1959. His doppelganger has an abnormally long neck — and denies it when asked. The real Ray's neck is unremarkable. Stretch of the truth, stretch of the neck.
Ren Takahashi
Doppelganger tell: appears as a cat in the Anomaly Lens · can appear after the lens is unlocked
▼ Real Appearance

▲ Doppelganger Form

Ren Takahashi is a taxidermist who always carries an old suitcase, and he can appear once the Anomaly Lens is unlocked. His doppelganger has the strangest tell in the game: through the Anomaly Lens, it's a cat. If the lens says cat, the customer is not Ren.
Travis Dunn
Doppelganger tell: the doppelganger doesn't have the lisp
▼ Real Appearance

▲ Doppelganger Form

Travis Dunn will ask about beer deals, admit he's bored, and talk with a noticeable lisp. The doppelganger tell is one for your ears: it doesn't have the lisp. If the voice suddenly clears up, so does your decision.
Wade Callahan
Doppelganger tell: his human counterpart never appears — only the doppelganger shows up as a customer
▼ Real Appearance

▲ Doppelganger Form

Wade Callahan is the reverse of every other entry here: his human counterpart never appears in the game, and only his doppelganger shows up as a customer. If someone claiming to be Wade Callahan is at your register, the odds are not in your favor.
Yasmin Carvalho
Doppelganger tell: missing the jewelry her human counterpart wears in the Anomaly Lens
▼ Real Appearance

▲ Doppelganger Form

Yasmin Carvalho's doppelganger is missing the jewelry her human counterpart wears — a difference the Anomaly Lens catches even when your eyes don't. Check the camera feed on her, not just the face at the counter.
Agnes Wells
Doppelganger tell: the real Agnes is only 3 years old — an elderly woman with that name is a doppelganger every time
▼ Real Appearance
N/A — the real Agnes (a 3-year-old) never appears in-game.
▲ Doppelganger Form

Agnes Wells is the extreme case that proves the doppelganger system: the real Agnes is a 3-year-old child whose human form never appears in the game at all — only her doppelganger comes through as a customer. The doppelganger presents as an elderly woman with her hair in a slicked-back bun, a collared button-up shirt under a brown cardigan, a gray floral skirt, and black slip-on shoes. She is also missing her eyes. If the ID says Agnes Wells and the person at the counter is a senior, that is a guaranteed doppelganger — no further checks needed.
Aria Romero
Doppelganger tell: face is distorted in the Anomaly Lens
▼ Real Appearance

▲ Doppelganger Form

Aria Romero is a documented doppelganger-capable customer. Her tell is visual: the doppelganger's face comes through distorted when viewed through the Anomaly Lens, so when she's in your queue, run the camera over her before deciding — the face on the counter may look fine, but the lens shows the truth.
Elise Hart
Doppelganger tell: claims she’s heading to the beach on a sunny day — but it’s nighttime
▼ Real Appearance

▲ Doppelganger Form

Elise Hart's doppelganger says she's heading to the beach on this sunny day — but it's nighttime at Midnight Mart, and the sun is not out. A beach plan at midnight is the tell.
Mia Cannon
Doppelganger tell: her tattoos are the wrong pattern
▼ Real Appearance

▲ Doppelganger Form

Mia Cannon's doppelganger is identified by her ink: the tattoos on the doppelganger form show the wrong pattern compared to the real Mia. It's a detail easy to miss at the counter and easy to catch on camera — when Mia comes through, compare the tattoo layout on the Anomaly Lens before you finalize the transaction.
Ramona Delgado
Doppelganger tell: guaranteed doppelganger — the EmotiScope reads her craving human flesh
▼ Real Appearance

▲ Doppelganger Form

Ramona Delgado owns Ramona's Beauty & Nails and is one of the game's guaranteed doppelgangers — the Fandom wiki lists her species as doppelganger outright. The EmotiScope reads her as craving human flesh, which is your tell before she even reaches the counter. She is also the character who will respond when asked about Tommy Delgado's occupation but goes silent if questioned about Catherine Delgado — a dialogue quirk worth remembering when she shows up in the rotation.
Baron Dean
Doppelganger tell: has hair — his file photo shows him bald
▼ Real Appearance

▲ Doppelganger Form

Baron Dean's doppelganger is easy to spot once you know the file photo: the real Baron is bald, but the doppelganger has a full head of hair. Ask about it and it will tell you its hair grew through “Human Photosynthesis” — a story as fake as the customer.
Beth Callahan
Doppelganger tell: face is extremely mangled and red all over
▼ Real Appearance

▲ Doppelganger Form

Beth Callahan's human form matches her photo exactly. The doppelganger doesn't: its face is extremely mangled, red all over. When Beth arrives, look at the face before you look at the ID.
Daniel Flores
Doppelganger tell: blind in both eyes — the real Daniel is blind in one
▼ Real Appearance

▲ Doppelganger Form

The real Daniel Flores is blind in one eye — his left — which matches his N.E.T. file. The doppelganger is blind in both. Eyes are the tell: one blind eye is Daniel, two is not.
Darla Groves
Doppelganger tell: vitiligo pattern doesn’t match her photo ID
▼ Real Appearance

▲ Doppelganger Form

Darla Groves' tell is skin-deep: her vitiligo pattern in her photo ID is unique, and the doppelganger's pattern doesn't match. Compare the markings, not the smile.
Dave Buster
Doppelganger tell: mentions 9/11-era airport checks — the game is set in 1993
▼ Real Appearance

▲ Doppelganger Form

Dave Buster's doppelganger can't keep the timeline straight: it mentions that airports “really cracked down on checks since September 11th” — a problem, since the game is set in 1993. Run the EmotiScope and it reads “Time Displacement Headaches.” Anachronisms are tells.
David Kennedy
Doppelganger tell: claims his twin sister is at home — the paper carries her obituary
▼ Real Appearance

▲ Doppelganger Form

David Kennedy's doppelganger claims his twin sister is at home — but the newspaper on the notice board carries her obituary. If he's telling you his sister is alive, the news says otherwise.
Diana Volkov
Doppelganger tell: Anomaly Lens shows it’s Norbert in disguise
▼ Real Appearance

▲ Doppelganger Form

Diana Volkov's doppelganger has the strangest identity in the game: through the Anomaly Lens, the “Diana” at your counter is actually Norbert in disguise. The lens shows the real Diana normally — anything else is Norbert. See Norbert below for the full story.
Dmitri Volkov
Doppelganger tell: birthmark on his face doesn’t match his photo ID
▼ Real Appearance

▲ Doppelganger Form

Dmitri Volkov's tell is on his face: the doppelganger's birthmark doesn't match the one in his photo ID. The real Dmitri's birthmark placement is on file — compare before you trust the face.
Elena Park
Doppelganger tell: claims she rebuilt a carburetor — she’s a computer engineer
▼ Real Appearance

▲ Doppelganger Form

Elena Park is a computer engineer — the file says so. Her doppelganger claims to have spent the day rebuilding a carburetor, while the real Elena mentions staring at a monitor all day. Job details are tells.
Evan Walker
Doppelganger tell: Anomaly Lens reveals him as a doppelganger
▼ Real Appearance

▲ Doppelganger Form

Evan Walker's doppelganger only reveals itself through the Anomaly Lens — the same rule as Kevin Larson and Aria Romero. Before the lens is unlocked he's always human; once you have it, check him on it every shift.
Grace Harper
Doppelganger tell: talks about the West Bridge’s speed limits — the paper says it’s closed
▼ Real Appearance

▲ Doppelganger Form

Grace Harper's doppelganger mentions that the West Bridge has “extreme speed limits” — but the newspaper on the notice board says the bridge is entirely closed. If she's talking about driving a closed bridge, she's not Grace.
Harold Brant
Doppelganger tell: claims 40 years in pest control — he’s only 39
▼ Real Appearance

▲ Doppelganger Form

The real Harold Brant has worked in pest control for 15 years. His doppelganger claims 40 years — a neat trick, since Harold is only 39. Age and job history are on file; the math never lies.
Howard Elkins
Doppelganger tell: nametag reads “Jack” and he answers to Jack
▼ Real Appearance

▲ Doppelganger Form

Howard Elkins' doppelganger wears a nametag that reads “Jack” and answers to Jack. The real Howard's nametag says Howard. Read the tag out loud and watch what it answers to.
Isaac Warren
Doppelganger tell: crucifix worn upside down · missing eyes
▼ Real Appearance

▲ Doppelganger Form

Isaac Warren's human form wears his crucifix necklace the right way up. The doppelganger wears it upside down — and it's missing its eyes. Faith is the tell; the monster can't get the details right.
Keith Hargreaves
Doppelganger tell: believes he’s a bus driver — the real one is a train conductor
▼ Real Appearance

▲ Doppelganger Form

Keith Hargreaves is a train conductor — as he'll tell you when you ask his occupation, the uniform gives it away. His doppelganger believes it's a bus driver and talks about city routes. If the conversation turns to bus lines, so does your verdict.
Linda Carver
Doppelganger tell: red eye tattoo on the right hand — the file says left
▼ Real Appearance

▲ Doppelganger Form

Linda Carver's red eye tattoo is on her left hand — that's the file photo. The doppelganger's is on her right. Handedness is hard to fake.
Louisa Mari
Doppelganger tell: left leg elongated beyond anything human
▼ Real Appearance

▲ Doppelganger Form

Louisa Mari's human form has one leg slightly longer than the other, and she mentions the manager called ahead. The doppelganger's left leg is elongated beyond anything human. Legs are the tell.
Natasha Lin
Doppelganger tell: claims she worked all day — her bar only opens at night
▼ Real Appearance

▲ Doppelganger Form

Natasha Lin claims to have been working since morning — but her file shows she's a bartender at a bar that only opens at night. Nobody is bartending a closed bar all day.
Richard McCree
Doppelganger tell: asks for hair products for his wife — the file shows she’s bald
▼ Real Appearance

▲ Doppelganger Form

Richard McCree's human form asks about chocolate. The doppelganger asks for hair products for his wife — and the database shows his wife is bald. Shopping for a bald wife's shampoo is a dead giveaway.
Ricky Lawson
Doppelganger tell: no lazy eye — the real Ricky has one
▼ Real Appearance

▲ Doppelganger Form

The real Ricky Lawson has a lazy eye, matching his file. The doppelganger doesn't have one, and when asked about it, it doesn't know what you're talking about. Two good eyes are two bad signs.
Rimple Urkel
Doppelganger tell: says his wife died of cancer — the file records mutilation
▼ Real Appearance

▲ Doppelganger Form

Rimple Urkel's doppelganger says his wife Nancy died of cancer — the database records her death as mutilation. Cause of death is on file; a different story is a doppelganger.
Rudnick Wex
Doppelganger tell: contorts and rolls like a wheel · the real Rudnick is deceased
▼ Real Appearance

▲ Doppelganger Form

Rudnick Wex's doppelganger contorts in impossible ways — it can roll around like a wheel. It's also the entry where the file does the work: the real Rudnick is deceased.
Tyler Brackett
Doppelganger tell: will tell you he’s a doppelganger — and mean it
▼ Real Appearance

▲ Doppelganger Form

Tyler Brackett is the one doppelganger who tells the truth: he'll say he's a doppelganger, and if you let him live, he won't call the Entity. It's the friendliest tell in the game — and the strangest.
Corey Bishop
Doppelganger tell: lanyard photo shows someone else
▼ Real Appearance

▲ Doppelganger Form

Corey Bishop is one of the newcomers from the August 20 update. Check the face on his lanyard photo against the face at the counter: the doppelganger's ID shows someone else.
Danielle Bennett
Doppelganger tell: file says she can't speak — she answers under the EmotiScope
▼ Real Appearance

▲ Doppelganger Form

Danielle Bennett joined the customer rotation with the August 20 update. Her N.E.T. file says she cannot speak, so any Danielle who answers questions under the EmotiScope is the doppelganger.
Dmitri Markov
Doppelganger tell: earring on the wrong ear — the file photo shows it on the left
▼ Real Appearance

▲ Doppelganger Form

Dmitri Markov is one of the customers introduced in the August 20 update. His file photo places the earring on his left ear; if it appears on the right, the look has been mirrored and you're dealing with the doppelganger.
Mateo Benitez
Doppelganger tell: no toothpick — the real Mateo always has one
▼ Real Appearance

▲ Doppelganger Form

Mateo Benitez arrived with the August 20 update, and his tell is a missing detail. The real Mateo always has a toothpick; the doppelganger shows up without it.
Toby Finch
Doppelganger tell: denies owning a beanie — the file lists one
▼ Real Appearance

▲ Doppelganger Form

Toby Finch is another newcomer from the August 20 update. His file lists a beanie among his belongings, but the doppelganger denies owning one when you ask.
Youssef Morad
Doppelganger tell: hairstyle doesn't match the ID photo
▼ Real Appearance

▲ Doppelganger Form

Youssef Morad joined the roster in the August 20 update. Compare his hairstyle with the ID photo: a mismatch is the confirmed doppelganger tell.
Other Doppelganger Variants
Player's Doppelganger
A doppelganger that impersonates one of the player characters. This variant appears when a doppelganger takes on the appearance of a player rather than a customer. It can be identified by its distorted movements and unnatural behavior.
▲ Doppelganger Form

Car Doppelganger
A doppelganger that takes the form of a vehicle. This environmental threat appears as a car that behaves anomalously, potentially acting as a trap during the escape phase. The Car Doppelganger is visually distinct from normal vehicles with subtle distortions in its form.
▲ Doppelganger Form

Elongated Doppelganger
A tall, stretched variant of the Player's Doppelganger. The Elongated Doppelganger has an unnaturally extended body and limbs, making it visually distinct from other doppelganger types. It impersonates the player but in a distorted, horror-themed form.
▲ Doppelganger Form

Chameleon Doppelganger
A variant that blends into its surroundings — players report one appearing as a distorted shape against a wall (community footage calls it the “camoganger”), and others describe encountering it in the warehouse. It doesn't impersonate a named customer; it hides in plain sight and ambushes.
▲ Doppelganger Form

The Dentist's Doppelganger
The Dentist's Doppelganger is the doppelganger of The Dentist — a serial killer who died 45 years before the events of Shift At Midnight. The Fandom wiki lists it among the game's doppelganger variants and pairs it with Bill Dawson, the former Mayor of Midnight Town, whose death is documented as suicide; the wiki also notes the theory that Bill Dawson was The Dentist. This variant is the entity behind the game's final boss — see our The Dentist — Final Boss guide for the full fight strategy.
▲ Doppelganger Form

Special Doppelganger Visitors
Three visitors don't fit the customer list or the variant list — they're their own thing, and each needs its own playbook.
Norbert
Norbert carries a fake ID, and the N.E.T. database has no record under his name at all. Killing him doesn't end the problem — he comes back to visit again on later shifts, so players report shooting him a few times to eventually get rid of him. He's also behind one of the stranger tells on this page: through the Anomaly Lens, Diana Volkov's “human” form is actually Norbert in disguise.
Herbert
Herbert is a talking bear. Shooting him doesn't kill him, and — unusually — firing on him doesn't seem to alert the Entity for the evening; he just runs off. He's documented as a doppelganger by the community and the wiki, and he's harmless if you let him leave.
The Robber
The Robber isn't a doppelganger — he's a plain human robber with a fake gun. Shoot him once and he flees, admitting the gun isn't real. One shot ends the standoff with no reputation penalty.
Car Customers — Every Driver Tell (17)
Some customers arrive by car instead of on foot. Their tells are in the vehicle, not the face: shine your flashlight into the interior, check the passenger seat and trunk, and cross-reference what you find against the N.E.T. database. The first car customer you serve is always human.
| License Plate | Status | The Tell |
|---|
| 04LJ | Human | The first car customer is always human — blue station wagon. |
| 3J4Z | Doppelganger | Shine the flashlight inside: the interior is all contorting flesh. |
| 989A | Human | Dark gray SUV with a guitar in the trunk, cigarettes, and Grace Wong's ID on the front passenger seat. |
| FAMMAN | Doppelganger | Black minivan with toys and a scooter in back; the framed family portrait in the footwell shows a different man than the driver. |
| 91GJ | Doppelganger | White minivan; a goodbye note from a class of kids names the driver “Mrs Farrell” — Valerie Farrell is deceased. |
| SPEED | Human | Bottles in the front passenger seat — clearly drunk. |
| FG8S | Human | Black police Hummer with tools on the back seat and a padlocked rear; shoot the lock to reveal a license plate and stolen money. |
| 52F2 | Human | Red SUV with a cracked rear window. |
| 294Y | Human | Dirty red station wagon with junk food on the back seat and a dog bed in the trunk. |
| UPR4 | Human | Green SUV with office items in back; a note on the passenger seat mentions a client named R. Thompson. |
| FJ88 | Doppelganger | Red minivan with sports jerseys; the driver claims he just took the Junior Bears home — the database shows the whole team is deceased. |
| PL98 | Doppelganger | Dirty yellow SUV with camera gear and a wedding invite dated ten years ago — but she claims she's returning from the wedding that night. |
| FLAMEZ | Human | Black modified police Hummer with flame decals and bikes in the trunk. |
| RGB6 | Doppelganger | Turquoise station wagon — pop the hood and there's no engine. |
| LP7S | Doppelganger | Black SUV; a notice in the passenger door says Janet Davis died of a heart attack — the database records mutilation. |
| QPB6 | Doppelganger | Light blue SUV with travel stickers and suitcases; the passport behind the seat identifies the driver as Madison Gray — deceased per the database. |
| LFF2 | Doppelganger | Black station wagon; a plane ticket dated today from France — but the newspaper says all US–Europe travel is banned. |

Human Customers
In addition to the doppelganger-capable characters above, Shift At Midnight has a large roster of regular customers who rotate through the Midnight Mart across shifts. Most are ordinary humans going about their night — but 56 of them are dual-identity regulars with documented doppelganger forms of their own, and the game decides who is who on every shift. The rule never changes: run the full detection workflow on every customer, every time — scan the N.E.T. ID, question them, and watch how they behave.
Aaliyah Johnson is one of the Midnight Mart regulars whose N.E.T. file is still thin — beyond her database photo, not much is documented yet.

Amelia Kramer
Doug Kramer's twin sister · Documented doppelganger form
Amelia Kramer is Doug Kramer's twin sister and one of the customers with a confirmed doppelganger form. If her doppelganger shows up, it's invisible in the Anomaly Camera — and it presents Doug's N.E.T. ID instead of her own, which is your biggest tell. Catch the name mismatch on the ID scan before she reaches the register.

Amiah Gutierrez
Guaranteed human
Amiah Gutierrez is documented as a guaranteed human — one of the rare customers who can never be a doppelganger. That makes her a safe character to practice your verification workflow on, but keep the habit anyway: scan her ID, ask the questions, and confirm her behavior like you would for anyone.

Andal Khan
Baldani's Pizza chef · b. 1970
Andal Khan works as a chef at Baldani's Pizza and needs glasses, which is visible in his ID photo. His doppelganger form keeps the chef look but comes with a misspelled nametag — a small detail that stands out if you actually read the ID instead of just glancing at it.

Anita Varma
Lawyer · b. 1960
Anita Varma is a lawyer who shows up at the Mart with bags under her eyes and hair dyed dark red — she admits she's fatigued, which is fair at nearly midnight. If her doppelganger appears, the tell is easy to miss at a glance: the right hand is cut off and bleeding. Look at the hands, not just the face.
Aria Romero is a regular customer whose file is still being documented — beyond her photo, not much is recorded yet. She still gets the full check like everyone else: ID scan, questions, and a close look at how she moves through the store.

Baron Dean
Documented doppelganger form
Baron Dean's N.E.T. file is sparse — a photo and not much else documented so far.

Barry Aoki
Documented doppelganger form
Barry Aoki's human form is unremarkable, but his doppelganger is anything but: it's much bigger than the real Barry, and it claims to have eaten magic beans when you question it. If a towering version of Barry is at your counter telling tall tales, that's your doppelganger.

Beth Callahan
Documented doppelganger form
Beth Callahan is a regular at the Midnight Mart, though her database entry is still a work in progress — the photo is confirmed, the rest is sparse. Same routine as always: scan the N.E.T. ID, run the questions, watch the behavior.

Bonnie McCree
Nurse · Guaranteed human · b. 1967
Bonnie McCree is a nurse at County General who swings by on the first night still in her scrubs, shaved head and reading glasses included — she keeps it shaved because a hospital shift leaves no time for hair. She's documented as a guaranteed human, and she's married to Richard McCree, who she'll happily gush about if you ask. A safe customer to practice your questions on.

Cara Hastings
Documented doppelganger form
Cara Hastings has a documented doppelganger form in the game files, so don't file her under safe just because she's not on the main doppelganger list. Run the standard check on her every appearance — ID first, then questions, then how she holds herself at the counter.

Clyde Dawson
Sheriff · First customer
Clyde Dawson is the sheriff and the first customer you'll ever serve — his Night 1 visit is the game's tutorial for the entire verification workflow. Since his doppelganger variant can show up from Night 3. Use his Night 1 appearance to learn the routine; never trust that it stays human.

Colin Shirley
N.E.T. operative · b. 1950
Colin Shirley works for the Non-human Eradication Taskforce — the same organization whose database you check every ID against. An N.E.T. operative walking into the Mart as a customer is a rare sight, and worth verifying like everyone else, because the system only helps if you actually use it.
Craig Harrelson is a male customer in the Midnight Mart rotation whose file is still light on detail — photo confirmed, background undocumented. Verify him the same way you verify everyone: scan, question, observe.
Crystal Compton is one of the Mart's regular customers, though her N.E.T. record is still mostly empty beyond the profile photo.

Daniel Flores
Documented doppelganger form
Daniel Flores is a regular customer whose database page is still being filled in — his photo is up, the rest is pending. Don't skip the workflow on him; a thin file is not a clean bill of health.

Darla Groves
Documented doppelganger form
Darla Groves is a regular at the Midnight Mart and one of the customers with a distinctive look — her character model includes vitiligo, which makes her easy to pick out on the cameras. Easy to recognize doesn't mean safe to skip: she gets the same ID scan and questions as everyone else.

Dave Buster
Documented doppelganger form
Dave Buster is a regular customer in the rotation, though his file is sparse — just the N.E.T. photo so far. Run the standard check on him every time: ID, questions, and a close read of his behavior.

David Kennedy
Documented doppelganger form
David Kennedy is a customer whose N.E.T. record is still thin — the photo is documented, and little else.

Derrick Vaughn
Documented doppelganger form
Derrick Vaughn has a doppelganger form documented in the game files, and the community notes a subtle clothing tell: the human jacket and the doppelganger jacket are slightly different. It's a hard detail to catch at a glance, which is exactly why you don't rely on looks alone — run the full verification.

Diana Volkov
Documented doppelganger form
Diana Volkov is a female customer in the Mart's regular rotation, with her N.E.T. photo confirmed and the rest of her file still pending.

Diane Hays
Sales assistant · b. 1978
Diane Hays works as a sales assistant and is one of the younger customers in the rotation, born in 1978. Her file lists no special tells, but that's not a pass — every customer gets the full check, and her ID should match her answers like anyone else's.

Dilbert Hickman
Power plant operator · b. 1939
Dilbert Hickman operates at the power plant and shows up covered in a bit of oil, overweight and unapologetically flirtatious — his opening line is something about the world ending if you don't sleep together. He'll gladly tell you he has a stable job and a house, which is more than some customers offer. Interesting, but still just a man doing his shopping — verify him like the rest.

Dmitri Volkov
Florist · b. 1962
Dmitri Volkov runs a flower shop and stands out in a crowd — he's tall, with a large birthmark on the right side of his face that's visible in his ID photo. The birthmark is your baseline: if the face at your counter doesn't match the photo, the questions start.

Doug Kramer
Amelia Kramer's twin · Never seen in person
Doug Kramer is Amelia Kramer's twin brother — unemployed, thick glasses, missing his right hand, and burn scars up his left arm. He never actually appears in the game; the only way his N.E.T. ID shows up is when Amelia's doppelganger mistakenly presents it at the counter. If the name on the ID doesn't match the face, that's the system working.

Dylan Pike
Documented doppelganger form
Dylan Pike has his own documented doppelganger entry in the game files, which puts him outside the always-human crowd. Check his ID carefully and keep the questions coming — the database photo is the baseline, and anything off means the full treatment.

Elena Park
Documented doppelganger form
Elena Park is a computer engineer who starts appearing from the second night. No special tells are documented for her, so she's a straightforward verification: ID, questions, behavior — the three-step loop that keeps every shift honest.
Elise Hart is a female customer whose N.E.T. file is still mostly blank — photo up, details pending. She gets the same treatment as every other customer: scan the ID, ask the questions, and don't rush the checkout.

Emilia Carter
Documented doppelganger form
Emilia Carter is a customer with a genuinely useful tell: her doppelganger talks about studying at Midnight Town's library — the same library the Midnight News said was closed that day. If the news mentioned the closure and she brings up studying there, she's a doppelganger. Watch the break-room news feed and you'll get a head start.

Esteban Morales
Retired construction worker · b. 1933 · First seen Night 3
Esteban Morales is a retired construction worker — very short, with a receding hairline and a moustache, usually in a blue shirt and shorts. He's also the happiest man at the Midnight Mart: he dances everywhere he goes and doesn't seem to have a care in the world, doppelgangers included. His joy is genuine; the ID check is still non-negotiable.

Ethan Voss
Documented doppelganger form
Ethan Voss has a doppelganger form sitting in the game files, so treat him as a possible threat on every shift. The database photo is your reference point — compare the face, then run the questions. Never let a familiar face shortcut the workflow.

Evan Walker
Documented doppelganger form
Evan Walker is a male customer in the regular rotation, though his N.E.T. entry is still thin — the photo is all that's confirmed so far. Run the full check on him regardless: ID, questions, and observation.

Grace Harper
Documented doppelganger form
Grace Harper is a regular at the Midnight Mart whose database page is still under construction. That doesn't change the procedure: scan her ID, question her, and watch her movements before completing the sale.

Grace Wong
Harry Wong's mother · b. 1966
Grace Wong's N.E.T. file notes her as the mother of Harry Wong — one of the family ties that makes Midnight Town feel lived-in. She's documented as alive and unemployed, with no special tells. Verify her like anyone else: the file tells you who she is, the questions tell you if she's really her.
Greta Darling is a female customer in the Mart's rotation, with her profile photo confirmed and her background still undocumented. The routine stays the same: ID scan, standard questions, and a careful look before checkout.

Hao Chen
Student · Presents Marcus Thompson's ID
Hao Chen is a student with a small, lean build and fidgety hands who's a lot younger than he tries to look. When he comes through your line he presents Marcus Thompson's N.E.T. ID — a personal trainer's card, and a fake-ID scheme that falls apart the moment you question him. Claiming a job that doesn't match the photo is exactly the kind of inconsistency the workflow exists to catch.

Harold Brant
Documented doppelganger form
Harold Brant works in pest control and always wears long sleeves, with a neatly trimmed beard that shows in his ID photo. No documented doppelganger tell — just a consistent baseline to compare against. Scan, question, observe.

Howard Elkins
Documented doppelganger form
Howard Elkins is a mechanic, clean-shaven, born in 1956 — a straightforward file with no documented doppelganger form. Straightforward doesn't mean skippable: he gets the ID scan and the questions like every other customer.

Isaac Warren
Documented doppelganger form
Isaac Warren is a youth pastor who always wears a cross necklace, and he has cervical dystonia — a condition that affects his neck and posture. It's the kind of detail worth knowing before you judge someone's movements: a stiff neck isn't a tell by itself, so rely on the ID and the answers.

Judith Calhoun
English teacher · First seen Night 3
Judith Calhoun is an English teacher and a lonely widow who always spends exactly $13 when she shops — a small habit the database has on file. She's doppelganger-capable. The exact-change habit is a fun detail, but the real check is the one you run on every customer.

Karen Whitfield
Real estate agent · b. 1965
Karen Whitfield is a real estate agent who always wears gold jewelry — the main descriptor on her file. No doppelganger form is documented for her, so treat her as a routine verification: ID, questions, behavior, and out the door.

Keith Hargreaves
Documented doppelganger form
Keith Hargreaves is a train conductor coming off a late shift, greying hair and all, and he punctuates every sentence with 'chap.' The EmotiScope reads him as lonely, and he'll quietly confirm it. He's human, he's tired, and he's just trying to get home — but you still run the questions.
Lena Rowe is a female customer whose file is still mostly photo and little else. She's part of the regular rotation, so she gets the full check like everyone else — ID first, questions second, behavior third.

Linda Carver
Documented doppelganger form
Linda Carver is a regular customer with a confirmed profile photo and a database page that's still being filled in. Standard procedure applies: scan the N.E.T. ID, run the questions, and watch for anything that doesn't add up.

Lisa Cannon
Documented doppelganger form
Lisa Cannon has a doppelganger form in the game files, which makes her one of the grid's quietly dangerous entries. Keep the discipline: the ID scan and the questions happen every time she walks in, familiar face or not.

Louisa Mari
Documented doppelganger form
Louisa Mari is a female customer in the Midnight Mart rotation, with her profile photo confirmed and background details still pending.

Madison Gray
File lists her as deceased (hiking accident)
Madison Gray's N.E.T. file is unusual: it lists her as deceased, the cause a hiking accident — yet her photo sits in the customer database like everyone else's. A dead woman's ID turning up at the register is exactly the situation the verification workflow was built for.

Marcus Thompson
Personal trainer · b. 1966 · Never seen in person
Marcus Thompson is an extremely tall, extremely muscular personal trainer whose N.E.T. ID is in circulation without him: he never appears in-game, but Hao Chen uses Marcus's card as a fake ID. If a scrawny kid hands you a card for a bodybuilder, the mismatch is the whole point — the name on the ID and the face at the counter have to agree.
Marjorie Cole is a female customer in the regular rotation, photo confirmed and file still sparse. She gets the same treatment as everyone: ID scan, questions, and observation before checkout.

Mark Ellison
Documented doppelganger form
Mark Ellison is a male customer whose N.E.T. record is still light on detail — just the profile photo so far — but a doppelganger form is present in the game files, so he belongs on the watch list. Run the standard check on him every shift; a sparse file is not an exemption.

Martha Collins
Documented doppelganger form
Martha Collins has a doppelganger form present in the game files, so she belongs on the watch list even though she's not in the main doppelganger section. Compare the photo, ask the questions, and trust the workflow over first impressions.

Maya Davila
Tax accountant · Walter Davila's widow · b. 1965
Maya Davila is a tax accountant and the widow of Walter Davila, whose face is on a Midnight News notice. The tell if a doppelganger takes her place: it claims she just came back from a date with her husband — but her husband is missing. A story about a man everyone knows is gone is a story worth questioning.
Mia Cannon is a female customer in the Mart's rotation with a confirmed photo and a thin file.
Morris Seagrave is a male customer whose N.E.T. entry is still mostly empty — the photo is confirmed, nothing else yet.

Natasha Lin
Documented doppelganger form
Natasha Lin works the night shift as a bartender and is often in makeup, which shows up in her ID photo. No doppelganger tell is documented for her — just a consistent look to match against. Scan, question, and let her get home.

Net Pongsak
Documented doppelganger form
Net Pongsak has a doppelganger page in the game files, even though the details on both forms are still being documented. That's enough to keep him in the verify-everyone column: ID, questions, behavior — the whole routine.

Pan Yu
Dishwasher · b. 1967
Pan Yu washes dishes for a living — his hands are callused from it, and he speaks in broken English. The community notes a useful detail on his doppelganger form: the scar sits on the wrong side. If the scar doesn't match the photo, neither does the person.
Randy Patel is a customer in the Midnight Mart rotation whose file is still being documented — the photo is in, the rest is pending. Standard check every time: ID scan, questions, observation.

Ray Rowland
Night-shift warehouse supervisor · b. 1959
Ray Rowland supervises the night shift at a warehouse — balding, born in 1959, and his file includes a doppelganger form. He's exactly the kind of customer who looks routine and isn't, so keep the full verification loop in place.
Raymond Kessler is a regular customer with a sparse N.E.T. file — photo confirmed, background not yet documented.

Ren Takahashi
Taxidermist · b. 1958
Ren Takahashi is a taxidermist — tall, always carrying an old suitcase, with black hair parted to the side. He can appear after the Anomaly Lens is unlocked, and his doppelganger has one of the weirdest tells in the game: it shows up as a cat in the Anomaly Lens. If the lens says cat, the customer is not Ren.

Richard McCree
Documented doppelganger form
Richard McCree is Bonnie McCree's husband — she'll tell you he's handsome and works hard if you ask about him. His own file is thin, but the family connection is the interesting part: Midnight Town's customers aren't strangers to each other, and the workflow still applies to every one of them.

Ricky Lawson
Documented doppelganger form
Ricky Lawson is a college dropout who starts appearing from the second night. No documented doppelganger form — just a regular guy doing late-night shopping. Run the standard check and send him on his way.

Rimple Urkel
Documented doppelganger form
Rimple Urkel is a customer whose N.E.T. page is still mostly empty — the photo is documented, the rest isn't. The workflow doesn't care about the file size: ID, questions, and a careful read of his behavior.

Roger Conroy
Retired · b. 1944
Roger Conroy is retired, with a moustache and generally dirty attire, and he's usually well into a bottle by the time he hits your line — the EmotiScanner reads him as wasted, and his greeting is a slurred demand to know what you want. Drunk or not, he's human, and the verification still applies.
Rolf Bush is a male customer in the regular rotation, photo confirmed and background still undocumented.

Ryan Holt
N.E.T. operative · b. 1967
Ryan Holt is a Non-human Eradication Taskforce operative — the same organization behind the N.E.T. database. His file carries an unusual note: alive, then deceased after his second appearance, and a community screenshot links him to The Dentist. An N.E.T. ID at the register is worth a second look, not a shortcut.

Tofu
Service dog · Serves Charles Wigglebottom
Tofu is a service dog from Silverline Service Dogs, currently serving Charles Wigglebottom — and yes, he's a customer. He'll answer every question with 'ruff ruff,' the EmotiScanner reads him as happy, fed, and content, and he's arguably the most trustworthy customer in the store. Still scan the ID. Community reports add one warning: don't kill Tofu on sight. Players describe interacting with him first, then making your call — jumping straight to violence reportedly carries negative consequences.

Tommy Delgado
Unemployed · First seen Night 3
Tommy Delgado is unemployed, born in 1970, and carries the loss of his sister Catherine on his file. He starts appearing from the third night and is doppelganger-capable. Run the full check on him like you would anyone.

Travis Dunn
Documented doppelganger form
Travis Dunn will ask if you've got any deals on beer, admit he's bored — the EmotiScope confirms it — and he talks with a noticeable lisp. The doppelganger tell is perfect for anyone who listens instead of just looking: the doppelganger doesn't have the lisp. If the voice suddenly clears up, so does your decision.

Vivien Marrow
Doppelganger-capable
Vivien Marrow is a human customer whose file mentions an unnamed mother, and she's one of the newer documented doppelganger-capable characters. Newer documentation means less community data, which means the verification workflow matters even more.

Wade Callahan
Doppelganger-only customer
Wade Callahan is a strange case: his human counterpart never appears in the game, but his doppelganger shows up as a customer. In practical terms, if someone claiming to be Wade Callahan is at your register, the odds are not in your favor. Verify hard.

Walter Davila
Maya Davila's husband · Deceased
Walter Davila is Maya Davila's late husband, and the only place you'll see him is the Midnight News notice and his N.E.T. database entry — he's deceased. His presence in the file matters because of Maya: if someone claims to be Walter, or Maya claims she was just with him, that's the lie to catch.

Yasmin Carvalho
Documented doppelganger form
Yasmin Carvalho's doppelganger has a jewelry tell: seen through the Anomaly Lens, the doppelganger is missing the jewelry her human counterpart wears. It's a subtle difference that only shows up on camera — another reason to check the lens feed instead of trusting your eyes.

Nathan Calloway
Documented doppelganger form
Nathan Calloway is one of the first customers you'll meet, appearing on Night 1. His doppelganger takes a twisted, demonic form with glowing eyes — and if you run the ID, the file reveals the real Nathan is deceased. See the full doppelganger profile in the Doppelgangers section above.

Julietta Granger
Documented doppelganger form
Julietta Granger appears on Night 1 alongside Nathan. Her doppelganger is a gaunt, skeletal figure — and it claims to be a flight attendant, while the real Julietta is a plumber. Full doppelganger profile in the Doppelgangers section above.

Brandon Keller
Documented doppelganger form
Brandon Keller is a frequent customer from Night 2. His doppelganger's body distorts dramatically and it stands unnaturally still at the counter — one of the most striking transformations in the game.

Jade Sinclair
Documented doppelganger form
Jade Sinclair appears from Night 3. Her doppelganger looks completely different from her photo ID and repeats scripted phrases — the strongest visual mismatch in the game.

Kevin Larson
Documented doppelganger form
Kevin Larson is a recurring Night 1 customer in insurance sales. His doppelganger turns into an elongated, gaunt creature — and through the Anomaly Lens it shows up as a “groovy” Kevin, dancing.

Agnes Wells
Doppelganger-only customer
The real Agnes Wells is a 3-year-old child who never appears in-game. Anyone at the counter presenting an Agnes Wells ID as an elderly woman is a guaranteed doppelganger — no further checks needed.

Ramona Delgado
Doppelganger-only customer
Ramona Delgado is one of the game's guaranteed doppelgangers — the EmotiScope reads her as craving human flesh before she reaches the counter. She owns Ramona's Beauty & Nails.
Bartholomew Kessler
Customer
Bartholomew Kessler is a regular customer with no doppelganger variant encountered so far — treat him as human.
Vanessa McCree is documented as always human — one of the safest customers in the game.
Victor Hale has no doppelganger variant on record. Note his special rule: if he visits and immediately attacks you, killing him in self-defense carries no penalty.
Rudnick Wex
Documented doppelganger form
Rudnick Wex's doppelganger contorts in impossible ways — it can roll around like a wheel. The file does the heavy lifting here: the real Rudnick is deceased.
Tyler Brackett
Documented doppelganger form
Tyler Brackett is the doppelganger who tells the truth: he'll say he's a doppelganger, and if you let him live, he won't call the Entity. It's the strangest tell in the game.

Kelechi Okafor
New customer · Human so far
Kelechi Okafor is among the customers added in the August 20 update; every sighting so far has been an ordinary human, with no doppelganger form observed. Run the full verification workflow on him like anyone else.

Margot Beaumont
New customer · Human so far
Margot Beaumont joined the rotation with the August 20 update, and every report to date describes an ordinary human with no doppelganger form observed. You should still run the full verification workflow on her like any other customer.

Oswald Snoot
New customer · Human so far
Oswald Snoot is one of the August 20 additions, but all sightings so far have shown an ordinary human and no doppelganger form has been observed. Treat him to the same full verification workflow as everyone else.
